Animal Orchestra OK by me!
J and I decided to stop for a drink and a bite on the warm day we had last week. We found a spot in the sun at a new-ish Carlton venue called Animal Orchestra. It is a simple terrace house conversion to licensed tapas and panini cafe on Grattan Street opposite Melbourne Uni and diagonal to the Royal Womens Hospital across Swanston Street. The decor is nice, the bits and pieces (wallpaper, sugar bowls, indoor tables and chairs) quirky and interesting, the staff very friendly, the wine list is short but good. The tapas we had to start - Goats Cheese wrapped in Eggplant and Marinated Olive's was great, the dinner (we had both available mains offered that evening) less than great - we should have listened to the staff advice and stuck to the panini's... We will definitely be going back though, and will probably try for breakfast next time.

I can definitely recommend the breakfast! I had some great muesli there and the cooked breakfasts are very cool: they come out in the single-serve frypan that they've been prepared in.
