London - Lucky Me!!
Well I know that you won't believe it, but I have just had possibly the best seafood meal of my life in London!
In London for work last month, I visited the fantastic Randall and Aubin restaurant in Soho which is (luckily for me) run by a very old and dear friend of mine who now resides in the UK.
In a past life this glamorous venue spent its days as a French Charcuterie and Boucherie - you can still see the fantastic original fixtures and fittings (including butchers rails) - although they now compete for attention with the funky disco ball and chic chandelier touches.
The atmosphere - this place is not huge, but if you have to wait a while for a seat, what is better than an awning, a glass of champagne, and the beautiful bustle of Soho to make the wait bearable. The staff are also lovely, well informed on the menu, and very easy on the eye, most of them seemingly plucked straight from the beach in Ibiza.
The food - this is the best bit. Sourced from far and wide, the seafood is so fresh, so tasty, and so well presented that I almost had a tear in my eye. Not a battered piece of unidentifiable white flesh or a saucer of 'seafood sauce' in sight, for a seafood lover this was nothing short of a heavenly experience.
Thank you Daniel and team, you will definitely be seeing me back at R&A VERY soon.
