One of the fellows at work is moving to the UK in two week and we are in the midst of a flurry of farewell lunches and drinks to ensure he leaves our fair shores in a suitably sozzled state. Today the venue was Fräus Crêpes & Chocolat in North Melbourne. I have been to this cafe three times now and each time I have said I won't be back. Each time my resolve is weakened by the fond and positive culinary memories of the people I work with - they love this place... I do not get it. The Crepes look nice but are under filled and generally taste-free. One of the guys I work with says that this 'tastelessness' is the sign of a great crepe - if so, I must apologise, for if this is the case, Fräus must in fact the best crepery on the planet! The above only really applies to their savoury crepes (or gallete's). The sweet crepes are fine, mainly because you can drown them in Icecream, Maple Syrup, Hot Chocolate etc. I must say I have much higher hopes for The Hotel Spencer which is our final farewell lunch venue, planned for next Monday.
