So lets start with last Friday night. J, Ross, Donna & I went to the Supper Inn (downstairs) for a late dinner after a few drinks at the new RACV club... The Supper Inn is a Melbourne eating Institution. Located in Celestial Lane, Chinatown, The Supper Inn has a long (about 27 years this year) and colourful history of cooking up some great Chinese (mainly Cantonese) meals.
We started (as is our wont) with the Chilli Quail, which we always try to eat bones and all - authentic Chinese style don't you know! We then moved on to a 'special' dish of Snow Pea Sprouts with Shanghai Mushrooms - pretty special, this dish included Bamboo Fungus - texture of the fungus can't really be adequatley described with the English language, try it yourself if you see it on a menu - interesting. This was accompanied by a dish called Salt & Pepper something-or-other - didn't really matter because it was so deep fried, but at that time and stage of the evening absolutely perfect to replenish our salt levels. And finally a lovely 1/2 Roast Duck which had just the right mix of crispy skin, soft flesh and, well, fat, which is kind of what Duck is all about - right?

No Photos to go with this entry, sorry. My camera is on strike at the moment and I am awaiting news of it's likely recovery. I will rectify this very shortly.
Up Next
Well as far as I know, the only plans for this weekend are to venture up Northcote way on Saturday night to visit a bar called the 'Salty Dog' - which I am led to believe has a signature cocktail (The Salty Dog) consisting of Absolut Vodka, Grapefruit Juice over ice with double salt on the rim..... sounds like my kind of place!
