Sensational Stokehouse
It was a work slash social function, so we headed down to the Stokehouse (downstairs) on Saturday night. The Stokehouse for those of you from outer space (or Sydney) is an absolute Melbourne 'icon' with the 'serious' restaurant upstairs and the more casual and cheaper option downstairs. Our group ended up hanging around in the front bar area for way too long (our choice) and then of course found ourselves absolutely ravenous by the time we ordered... I think I may have started to sound a little bit desperate when my cry of "but, has anyone ordered the flat bread!?!" was ignored for the fourth time... When the mains arrived I was beside myself - I had ordered the Veal Cutlet - and for anyone who read last weeks cutlet debacle at the Malvern Hotel, I was, I think, quite brave for risking another cutlet dissapointment so soon afterthe last one. BUT, I had ordered well - my Veal Cutlet served with Cress, Potato, and a lovely juicy roasted Lemon was truly yummy. All the boys up my end of the table got the rib-eye, medium rare with onion sauce and mash - gorgeous - even J with his still-sore wisdom-tooth-holes attempted and conquered the rib-eye (in very small bites).
