NYE Weekend Bike Trip

J will hate me for telling this story, but last weekend we went to Sassafrass on the motorbike - well, we went to Sassafrass, but somehow we ended up in Healsville instead! Must have taken a wrong turn somewhere, but not to worry, we had a great time. We arrived in Healesville around lunchtime and headed to the Grand Hotel for a great lunch - we would normally go to the Healsville Hotel (with the rest of the tourists) but it was absolutely packed and
I am really glad we gave the Grand a go, it has a cute little beer garden out the back and cheap hearty food served quickly so us 'bikies' can get back on the road... On the way home we stopped in at the Yarra Valley Dairy (I had spotted the sign whizzing by on the way out to Healesville) where I somehow ended up with a 1.2 litre bucket of Persian Fetta... as well as a tub of Chevre and Dill (the closest you may ever get to heaven on earth), and a couple of white mould pyramids. All stuffed in a tank bag on the front of the bike, effort? maybe, but definitely worth it.Yum.

My '3 Bears Meal'

I have decided to not bother talking about the detox, basically I didn't enjoy it - found myself turning evil and haunted looking around food, and got quite ill on day 3, so lets move on! I have taken the health kick to a more manageable level - during the week I eat as little dairy, wheat, processed food, and alcohol as possible and as much fresh veg, fruit, nuts etc as possible (olives are saving my life!). Protein comes from Tofu, Tempeh, oily fish, a little meat, and a little dairy (mainly yoghurt, and fetta cheese).

I have found that I am not starving now, in fact by not constantly eating 'treat' food I am really looking forward to the lovely meals at restaurants and at home, I am putting more effort into these special meals (and meals in general), and not taking food for granted. Lets see how long this goodwill lasts!

Anyway, last night was the first meal I have had out for 2 weeks and boy was I looking forward to it... I walk home most days past my favourite bar/restaurant in Carlton - The Lincoln - and they have been tempting me throughout my detox with a menu board outside that sings to me of "twice cooked goats cheese souffle with asparagus" - I NEEDED to eat this, and last night I did, FANTASTIC, absolutely 3 Bears!! Oh, and J ate my food nemesis; corned beef!
