My Birthday
I must say that thirty-one hit me MUCH harder than thirty did - or maybe it just took a year to catch up with me... either way I needed to drown my sorrows in a place where everyone knows my name. So off we headed, a merry troupe of us to (try and guess!) The Lincoln!! It was fantastic food as usual, great company, and a great way overall to head into my very early thirties.
My '3 Bears Meal'
I have decided to not bother talking about the detox, basically I didn't enjoy it - found myself turning evil and haunted looking around food, and got quite ill on day 3, so lets move on! I have taken the health kick to a more manageable level - during the week I eat as little dairy, wheat, processed food, and alcohol as possible and as much fresh veg, fruit, nuts etc as possible (olives are saving my life!). Protein comes from Tofu, Tempeh, oily fish, a little meat, and a little dairy (mainly yoghurt, and fetta cheese).I have found that I am not starving now, in fact by not constantly eating 'treat' food I am really looking forward to the lovely meals at restaurants and at home, I am putting more effort into these special meals (and meals in general), and not taking food for granted. Lets see how long this goodwill lasts!Anyway, last night was the first meal I have had out for 2 weeks and boy was I looking forward to it... I walk home most days past my favourite bar/restaurant in Carlton - The Lincoln - and they have been tempting me throughout my detox with a menu board outside that sings to me of "twice cooked goats cheese souffle with asparagus" - I NEEDED to eat this, and last night I did, FANTASTIC, absolutely 3 Bears!! Oh, and J ate my food nemesis; corned beef!
